About the Competition
Homeward - a word that holds movement within it.
Homeward is my wish to arrive at the place where everything that happens is relevant to me.
The materials of this place, even the ones I don't like, have in no small part, made me.
I have decoded this place, internalized its borders.
I know the point beyond which I am no longer home.
David Grossman
Who would have believed that suddenly and without warning, in early 2020, so many of us would find ourselves in hiding, seeking protection from an invisible virus that crosses borders, attacks populations and mysteriously enters our homes?
It‘s like living in a movie whose resolution and genre are still unknown, but with the hope of a happy ending.
At the Maaleh Film School, located in the heart of Jerusalem, we believe that creativity is not just fun—it’s a tool that can connect all of us. So we've decided to spur our watching audiences into action! Here is a challenge and an adventure for every creative person who is bursting with imagination. You can create a video in the spirit of the times, without even leaving your home.
The Maaleh Film School invites creators from around the world to shoot a short video (up to 120 seconds) on the subject Homeward.
You are encouraged to express your personal understanding of, or connection to, the theme Homeward, in any genre you choose: drama, documentary, animation, clip, video art, etc.
The selected videos will be shown on a dedicated YouTube channel and will be part of an international artistic-social initiative.
The three best films will win cash prizes of $3000, $2000, and $1000
The five audience-favorite videos will win prizes of $ 500 each.
